I have often looked at Look branded bikes but up until a couple of weeks ago I had never owned one .
This one previous owner from new specimen turned up recently and I thought that it looked like a nice example so placed a fairly low bid in to see what happened.
A couple of days later and I was the only bidder so it ended up belonging to me .
It’s a full carbon frame that has been very well looked after. In the last couple of years it has been used as a single speed around town and general hack bike .
I would like to get it back to having some extra gears and a set of drop bars again , but first I need to find or adapt a front derailleur hanger to mount in the original position .
This is the nearest I have come across so far , just needs a bit of fine adjustment to the mounting holes .
So far I have used it on a few commutes and it feels very nice.

It’s been a few weeks since I first posted about my Dunelt fixed gear bike .
I have done just about 125 miles on it now. So far I am really enjoying the miles on this machine as they roll by.
The only issue I have had is to re tension the chain by pulling the rear wheel further into the rear drop outs .
Everything else is working as it should be ie sweet as a nut . I am starting to feel at home on it a bit more now and have started to learn about descending on a fixed gear .
My next project is to get one of my other bikes built into a fixed gear set up as I want to do the vast majority of my winter rides on a fixie this year . The current favourite for this treatment is my 2017 winter bike the F R Russell pictured above so watch this space .

This J F Wilson arrived a couple of weeks ago .
For an unknown reason other than the 90’s retro paint job soon as I saw it I wanted it .
Not sure what the proper term is but I love the webbed style lugs .
My first ride was not a disappointment either which is always a good sign even though it only lasted 300 yards before both tyres had lost 90 psi .
So far a lot of my leisure rides have been done on this fine beast .
J F Wilson are still going strong in Sheffield and have provided a lot of the original frame build specification .

Well this week has seen the arrival of my latest new jacket , after trying products from Altura , Endura and Polarias i decide this time to go for a Proviz .
Why Proviz i hear you all shout , the main reason is i am fed up of watching the reflective panels slowly and surely peel off my last 3 or 4 jackets .
So when i asked Proviz i was told that they an integral part of the jacket not just an added extra and can’t peel off .
I am really impressed by the Nightrider 2 and how reflective it is . I am intending to use it on this weekend rides .
If you are in the market for a new jacket then look no further
I acquired another Aende on Friday night which is the 4th one I have owned over the years .
They were built by Pongo Braithwaite to order and have quite a strong following .
This one doesn’t have the drilled lugs like the others I have had , so quite plain but nonetheless it is still very nice .
It’s made from Columbus slx tubing and is fully furnished with Shimano Dura ace .
The eagle eyes ones amongst you will have noticed the mudgaurd eyes on each drop out which is quite unusual.
Well another year is rapidly coming to a close .
And what a year .
I have covered over 5500 miles with a week to go .
I have discovered some new names .
And been reunited with some old friends .
All in all it hasn’t been that bad , how has your 2018 been ?
I reckon we would cover about 60 miles in our car on £12 of petrol at the current £1.16 per litre .
So far I have covered about the same amount of miles on my recent Falcon Explorer 12 acquisition .
Looking at the date stamps on the hubs it’s an early 90’s bike and which looks like it has led an easy life .
This bike will take on the role of my winter / wet weather bike until I get my Marin back on the road .
So far I have swapped the flat bar’s for a set of butterfly bar’s , adjusted the brakes , pumped up the tyres and wiped the dust off it .
This afternoon I have swapped the original tyres for some used Schwalbe Marathons and re greased the hubs .
